REVOLUTIONIZING ACTIVE LEARNING WITH IMMERSIVE EDUCATION
Transforming Education through Motion
Physical activity helps kids to be healthy. Today, only 10% of children are getting the recommended 60 minutes each day. Topping it off, school gymnasiums are often under utilized.
What if gyms could be engaging learning spaces? What if thinkers and kinesthetic learners could learn together? What if fun screen time could be integrated with invigorating physical activity?
Enter the Lü Uno, the state-of-the-art immersive learning experience by Lü Interactive Playground and Advanta Design.
A Captivating
Experience
The Lü Uno is equipped with audiovisual and movement tracking hardware, coupled with captivating software. The interactions between the giant images and physical objects have kids, immersed, moving, and excited. Powerful light and sound effects draw in learners with curriculum-based activities that literally move them. The Lü team and online community constantly add new software to keep children around the world, engaged and active.
LEARN
FAST FAIL FASTER
To expedite the design process and capitalize on the availability of most components, our design team (Including the client) swiftly generated and simulated the majority of required manipulation-sized components during the initial weeks.
Due to our clear direction and understanding of how components and user operations would influence size, placement, and mechanical design, iterative work later in the process was minimal.
New Generation, New Possibilities
This new version is more compact, simpler to install, and easier to maintain. It has a sleeker look and is way smarter. The previous unit was too big for some environments. Being smaller, it can be shipped anywhere at lower cost. Not every school has a large gym. The new Lü Uno can be installed in smaller spaces. It can be easily repaired and has a longer lifecycle. With these improvements, the world is wide open! Installations of the new Lü Uno have begun, and we hope to soon see, engaged, physically active students in schools across the globe!
An optimization challenge
This product, designed for international shipping on a single pallet, addressed a crucial logistical challenge. The teams ingeniously developed a design allowing easy assembly and disassembly by a single person. Each component was optimized to maximize space utilization, ensuring logistical efficiency. The modular design provides a practical solution for global shipments. Emphasis on the user experience ensures intuitive installation, even for beginners. Thus, the product overcomes the challenge of a single pallet, offering international adaptability and a seamless installation experience worldwide.
SAFETY FIRST DIGITAL PROTOTYPING (FEA)
Despite our strong instincts in the design direction, our team collaborated with a partner to conduct extensive FEA assessments of all potential risks and integrity dangers to the product. These digital prototyping tests revealed areas for potential improvement, which can be quickly added to the final product. While we have the capability to conduct such tests internally, we often seek external partners to provide a second opinion or to validate some key engineering decisions. Prioritizing product performance and security over our designer ego is paramount, with the ultimate focus being on the satisfaction and safety of the client and end user.
WHAT IF A KID suspend itself from the product
Our team, along with the LÜ team, conducted thorough security testing on the early prototype and the first fully assembled version. It was crucial for the product to meet elevated standards, simulating various forms of misuse. This included scenarios ranging from a child attempting a basketball dunk and gripping the cover's edge to enduring the force of a powerful smash from an elite volleyball player.
A VIDEO WORTH 1000 IMAGES
Here is a brief video produced by our client that outlines the benefits of the product and illustrates the different components and their interrelationships.
You will be able to observe the projection module, the light module, the motion sensor, and the heart mounted on the wall.
